This lot features a rare and exclusive 3 litre Magnum bottle of the iconic 50&50 Avignonesi Capannelle from the 2000 vintage. Born almost by chance during a convivial dinner in 1988, this legendary Super Tuscan is the result of a long-standing friendship and collaboration between Raffaele Rossetti, the former owner of Capannelle in Gaiole in Chianti, and Ettore Falvo, the former leader of Avignonesi in Montepulciano. Having blended their respective wines directly in their glasses during that dinner, they discovered an extraordinary harmony and decided to officially join forces. The wine represents a flawless union of two profoundly different Tuscan terroirs and grape varieties combined in equal measures. It consists of 50% Sangiovese from Capannelle, which provides the blend with vibrant acidity, structural backbone, and cellaring longevity, paired with 50% Merlot from Avignonesi, which infuses the wine with opulence, roundness, and rich fruit notes. The two components are vinified and aged separately in barriques for approximately 12 months before being combined in a strict 50/50 ratio to complete the final maturation process. Estate-bottled at the origin by both producers, this highly collectible 2000 vintage has achieved outstanding critical acclaim, earning a prestigious score of 93/100 from Wine Spectator and 90/100 from Robert Parker. A magnificent and well-preserved large format, ideal for serious collectors and lovers of fine Italian wines.
