A Chinese cloisonné enamel ewer, 18th century, finely decorated in red, blue, white, lavender, green and black enamels with lotus flowers leaves and scrolling tendrils, on a turquoise ground, gilt copper rims and handle, height 30.5cm, patch of restoration to one side cf. a near identical cloisonné enamel ewer from the same workshop in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, gifted by Edward G. Kennedy, 1929, Object Number: 29.110.52 Provenance - bought from Phillips Auctioneers, London in the 1970s - 1980s. The vendor and her late husband worked in London and shared a passion for collecting Chinese ceramics and works of art. They regularly attended Phillips Auctioneers specialist sales in the 1970s -1980s where they purchased this ewer.
