Todas las subastas / Arte Antiguo / A six-panel folding screen with a mountain landscape on a...
A six-panel folding screen painted on paper in sumi-e ink on a silver-leaf ground, depicting a broad mountain landscape animated by flowing water, trees, and small figures set within nature. Signed at the lower left. The screen is finished with elegant silk borders and a burgundy lacquered wooden frame fitted with metal corner mounts. The screen can also be easily mounted on a wall or used as a room divider. Byōbu (屏風), literally “wind protection screens,” are traditional Japanese folding screens originally created to divide spaces and today appreciated above all as striking wall-mounted paintings. ---The byobu is in good condition. Oxidation of the silver leaf is present, particularly between the second and third panels and between the fourth and fifth. Signs of wear and losses are clearly visible on the lacquered frame, especially on the first and fourth panels. The metal is slightly raised, consistent with age and use. Please refer to the pictures for further details. The item will be carefully packed and shipped via DHL or FedEx, accompanied by the original certificate of authenticity issued by Mastromauro Japanese art gallery based in Milan, Italy. 683
