Aesthetic pink orthoclase

From our selection of collectible minerals, we present a splendid group of Orthoclase crystals with Quartz from Mt. Maria, Domus De Maria, Sardinia. Moreover, it is characterized by pink bi-terminated Orthoclase crystals, with well-developed faces, in association with sharp gray-to-clear smoky Quartz crystals that emerge among the twinning, creating a pleasant color contrast between the two species, which enhances their aesthetic value and mineralogical importance. The specimen stands out for the quality of crystallization and for the overall aesthetic balance, with features that highlight its natural structure and visual impact. Orthoclase is a potassium feldspar (KAlSi3O8) whose pink color is due to traces of iron in the crystal lattice; in Sardinia it is typically found in pegmatitic veins and granites associated with the island’s Hercynian intrusions. The smoky Quartz that accompanies it owes its gray-brown color to lattice defects induced by trace amounts of aluminum and to slight exposure to natural radiation present in the formation environment. The simultaneous growth of the two species on matrix attests to slow and stable crystallization conditions within pegmatite cavities. This is an ideal specimen for mineralogical collections, display, and for those who appreciate the natural beauty of minerals, also within the realm of crystal therapy and lithotherapy, in line with the properties traditionally associated with the mineral species. All minerals are 100% natural and untreated, with rare exceptions always indicated in the description. The photographs are taken with professional lighting to best enhance colors and details; however, slight variations in shade may occur depending on the device or ambient light.
