Ancient Egypt

It represents the Egyptian goddess Neith, the goddess of war and hunting, but also of wisdom, thus assimilating the Greek divinity Athena. It is a very ancient divinity dating back to pre-dynastic Egypt. It is usually represented wearing the crown of Lower Egypt, as in this sculpture, and accompanied by a bundle of arrows or a shield.
