A very fine collection of prints, engraved after the magnificent paintings that the Duke of Choiseul (1719–1785)—ambassador to Rome and Vienna, and former chief minister to Louis XV—sold in 1772 following his fall from grace. Among the artists represented in his collection were Titian, Le Nain, Vernet, Hubert Robert, Wouwerman, Karel Dujardin, Ruysdael, and Rembrandt. A superb copy in period morocco leather, very rare in this condition. From the libraries of Édouard Rahir (III, 1935, no. 711) and Émile Moreau. A small, insignificant tear at the bottom of the margin of the double-page spread no. 74.
