Beatles - Yellow Submarine (UK) – Scarce -3/-1 “Sold in...

A particularly interesting original UK stereo copy of Yellow Submarine (PCS 7070), combining several highly desirable early pressing characteristics that mark it as a significant crossover variant from the transition period of Apple Records' early production runs. This example carries the original dark green Apple labels with the "Sold in U.K. subject to resale price conditions, see price lists" statement, but unusually pairs this with the YEX 715-3 / YEX 716-1 matrix combination. The conventional earliest stereo pressing is normally encountered with -1/-1 matrices. The later -3 Side 1 cut generally appears after the "Sold in U.K." wording had disappeared from the label, making surviving -3/-1 copies which still retain the early label text an interesting and scarce crossover variation. Even better, this copy is housed in the desirable first-state stereo sleeve without printer credit—the earliest and most collectible sleeve variant for this title. ⸻ Sleeve (VG+): The highly collectible early sleeve variation without Garrod & Lofthouse printer credit, distinguished by its original laminated front and flipback construction with characteristic red lines above and below the rear sleeve notes. The sleeve remains structurally strong and attractive, with only light creasing to the front, modest corner wear and a small amount of writing. The spine remains clearly readable → VG+ Inner Sleeve: Complete with original period Patents Applied For inner sleeve. Vinyl (VG+): The record retains a good original gloss with some light hairlines and signs of previous play, but nothing excessive or seriously distracting. The early dark green Apple labels present very well with the important "Sold in U.K." wording clearly visible. Overall a solid and presentable VG+ example → VG+ ⸻ Details * Original UK stereo pressing * Apple Records PCS 7070 * Dark green Apple labels * "Sold in U.K." label text * Scarce -3/-1 crossover matrix combination * Earliest no-printer-credit sleeve * Original laminated flipback construction * Original Patents Applied For inner sleeve * Early mother / stamper configuration * Stereo ⸻ Matrix / Stampers * Side 1: YEX 715-3 (Mother: 1 / Stamper: AH) * Side 2: YEX 716-1 (Mother: 3 / Stamper: MP)
