[CHOISY (Abbé de)]. *The Story of Madame the Countess Des Barres*, addressed to Madame the Marquise de Lambert. Brussels: François Foppens, 1736. In-12, midnight blue morocco leather, covers adorned with a frame of straight and curved lines in a green and red mosaic pattern, featuring foliage on a gold-dotted background forming small almond-shaped compartments in the corners; the center is left unadorned and decorated at the ends with small gilded iron motifs, spine richly decorated and in a mosaic pattern, red title label, lemon-colored morocco lining adorned with a large gilded compartment and gilded lace, double endpapers of comb-patterned paper, gilt edges (Joly fils). Second edition, following the original published a year earlier in Antwerp. (Gay-Lemonnyer, vol. II, col. 520; Dictionnaire des œuvres érotiques, pp. 314–316.) Memoirs of the Love Life of the Abbé de Choisy (1644–1724), a memoirist and member of the Academy who led a life of gallantry and libertinism by cross-dressing as a woman and posing as a wealthy widow under the identity of the Countess des Barres at the Château de Vouzay near Bourges. A very rich, lined, and mosaicked binding signed by Joly fils.
