Columbus - Fountain pen

Columbus – Safety fountain pen with retractable nib – 18 K.R. gold plated – circa 1925/1930 Elegant vintage Columbus fountain pen, historic Italian manufacturer founded in Milan in 1918. Model of the Safety type, characterized by the particular retractable nib system, operated by rotating the rear part of the pen. The body features a refined coating plated in 18 K.R. gold, with ornamental engravings and ebony parts. On the cap there are both the clip and the characteristic upper ring. The retractable mechanism is working: the nib extends and retracts regularly via the lower command. No ink writing tests have been carried out, and therefore the perfect seal of the filling system is not guaranteed. The pen is in good conservational condition considering its age, with normal signs of use, patina and slight traces of time. No evident cracks or structural breaks detected. The photographs are an integral part of the description and show in detail conditions, decorations, markings and nib. Period: about 1925–1930 Brand: Columbus, Milan Type: Safety / retractable nib Material: ebonite with 18 K.R. gold plated coating Retractable mechanism: functioning.
