EMANUELE EGILDO Mandolin, 1915 Mandolin with a tight-grained spruce top, featuring a soundhole rosette adorned with mother-of-pearl inlays. Acetate protective plate imitating parchment. Body with numerous dark wood ribs alternating with fine fillets, maple neck, ebony fingerboard, and openwork headstock veneered with ebony. Brass tuning machines and tailpiece. Bears an Emanuele Egildo label on the inside, dated 1915 and numbered. The craftsmanship is characteristic of the work of Emanuele Egildo, a luthier of Neapolitan origin who settled in France in the early 20th century; his mandolins bear similarities to the contemporary works of Luigi Embergher.
