Title: Birds’ Nest School: European Impressionism, 19th century Style: Impressionism with naturalist themes Technique: Oil on re-lined canvas Circle / artistic influence: Work linked to the field of European naturalist painting and Impressionism of the late 19th century, with influences from animal painting traditions and nature studies. The atmospheric treatment of the background, the loose brushwork, and the integration of the birds among the vegetation show an interest in directly capturing the natural environment rather than in a meticulously academic representation. Naturalistic vertical composition centered on two small birds beside a nest with eggs, arranged among branches, leaves and vegetation. One bird is perched on the nest, while the second occupies a slightly lower plane, creating an intimate scene tied to wildlife. The background is resolved with greens, grayish tones, ochers and bluish hues, applied in a diffuse, atmospheric manner. The brushwork is freer in the vegetation and surroundings, contrasting with somewhat greater definition in the birds and the nest, which constitute the main visual focus of the composition. The subdued, earthy palette gives the whole a serene and decorative character typical of certain European naturalist painting of the late 19th century. The work is signed in the lower left corner, although authorship cannot be determined solely from the image provided. It is presented with a historicist wooden frame, finished in dark and golden tones. It features golden vegetal ornamentation on the outer perimeter and an interior golden molding that delineates the painting. The finish shows visible signs of age, wear and occasional losses, in line with its decorative character and apparent chronology. The work has undergone restorations and has been re-lined, a common intervention to reinforce and stabilize the original support. Signs of age and wear compatible with a 19th-century work are evident. The frame likewise shows wear, losses and alterations in its ornamental finish. Dimensions of the work: 60 x 20 cm Dimensions with frame: 72 x 31 cm Notes The work may sustain damage during transport even with proper packaging. In that case, we will require photographs of the damages to proceed with compensation. Customer satisfaction is always our priority. Exceptional shipping costs may, on occasion, be affected by surcharges due to reasons such as being outside a continental territory, excessive dimensions or weight of the item. PremiArt will not cover such surcharge under any circumstances. Mediation that must cross the Swiss border can be far slower than usual, so if possible, to speed up processing, we will provide the customs number that is holding the shipment so the client can unlock it and have it reach its destination. Experience has shown that this is the most effective solution for both parties. Due to the high volume of shipments, orders may be delayed by more than three days, for which we apologize and thank you for your patience.
