Exquisite Platinum Bracelet with Natural Pearls & Diamonds, c. 1930

"There was never a time when bracelets were as popular as they are today. It seems as if every girl and woman wears a bracelet, and many ladies of good taste wear two and even more in attractive combinations," reads an American catalog from around 1925. And indeed, during the Art Deco years, the flowing diamond bracelet experienced an unprecedented peak in popularity. Not just one, but often two, three or even more precious bracelets adorned the wrists of ladies. Film divas such as Norma Shearer, Anita Page and Metropolis star Brigitte Helm wore the coveted jewels to premieres and photo shoots. Bracelets were the perfect accessory for the short-sleeved satin dresses in a bias cut. This bracelet is also from the same period. Cool and elegant, with a sober simplicity of form and richness of detail, it is a showpiece of Art Deco. A total of around 3.43 ct of diamonds bathe the bracelet in their white light, accompanied by fine pearls that provide a soft, shimmering counterpoint to the icy sparkle of the diamonds. Every free surface of the metal is textured with milgrains and set with glittering diamonds, creating a rich, sparkling impression. The high-quality workmanship extends down to the smallest detail: even the side view of the bracelet is engraved, creating a luxurious look. The clasp is also elegantly designed in the same way as the other connecting links and therefore does not stand out visually when the bracelet turns on the wrist. A wonderful, timeless piece of jewellery that is ideal for narrow wrists.
