Fascinating Fossil Formation - Natural Group of Ammonites...

An fascinating natural composition formed by numerous specimens of the Perisphinctes genus, beautifully preserved in a compact matrix. The ammonites display the typical planispiral coiling and fine, regular radial ribs that bifurcate gracefully toward the outer edge of the shell, distinctive features of this Jurassic genus. The color varies from golden beige to light brown, with subtle mineral iridescence highlighting the original calcitic structure. This is a natural, unassembled formation from the fossil beds of Sakaraha in southwest Madagascar: an area renowned for the exceptional preservation and paleontological richness of its Jurassic layers. The display, mounted on a black metal base, is ideal for both interior decor and scientific collection. Each ammonite tells a tale of marine life dating back roughly 150 million years, when the warm seas of the Jurassic were inhabited by these elegant cephalopods. Details: Species: Perisphinctes sp. Period: Late Jurassic (Oxfordian–Kimmeridgian) Origin: Sakaraha, Madagascar Formation: Natural (unassembled) Support: Included metal base Conservation: Excellent, with morphological details clearly visible An authentic piece that merges aesthetics and natural history, perfect for those seeking a balance between organic beauty and paleontological value.
