Hanging scrolls - Bone, Silk - Onishi Chinnen 大西椿年 (1792-1851) - Beautiful pair of scrolls "Cascades in Spring and Autumn" - with original tomobako - Japan - Edo Period (1600-1868) Onishi Chinnen 大西椿年 (1792-1851) was originally interested in drawing images as a former official of the Tokugawa shogunate. When he first went to Edo, he learned bird-and-flower painting in the Kyoto style and landscape painting from Watanabe Nangaku. Subsequently, he studied with Tani Buncho. He was also an engraver/printmaker. His works can be seen at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the British Museum, ... Comes with the original signed and sealed tomobako. Ends of the roller: bone. Measurements: Scroll: 186 x 48 cm Image: 93 x 34 cm Excellent condition, there are signs of wear due to age and normal use, stains, marks; please see the images for the actual condition.
