Giles believed that this tombstone mark was struck at Bombay while Scamp thought that it is a Hong Kong Post Office marking. Research articles accompanied this letter. ex. Burghard and Giles Dr. Andrew Cheung recorded 87 examples of the Royal Arms on incoming and outgoing covers between 1842 - 1843 and this is illustrated as figure 31 (HKPS Journal 5). Among the known letters, most of them are outgoing. Incoming or transit examples are rare!
