Large Antique Heriz Serapi allover Carpet, Northwest Persia, circa

Curated collection of antique, vintage and modern rugs Large Antique Heriz Serapi allover Carpet, Northwest Persia, circa 1880 Size: 11 ft 10 in x 9 ft 6 in (3.6 m x 2.89 m) Provenance: Property of a Los Angeles dealer A powerful room-size Heriz carpet distinguished by the monumental geometry and vigorous drawing associated with the weaving villages of northwest Persia. The celebrated Heriz medallion tradition transforms classical Persian floral ornament into strongly angular architecture. This combination of bold design, substantial wool and individual village execution gives antique Heriz carpets an unmistakable visual authority. Its highly desirable proportions allow the carpet to anchor a living room, library or dining room while leaving the complete composition visible. The strength and clarity of the design also make Heriz carpets exceptionally successful in both traditional and contemporary interiors.
