Late antique seal ring made from a copper alloy, probably bronze, featuring a round seal plate that extends directly from the ring shank. Based on its form and design, the piece can be classified within the late Roman to early Byzantine tradition. The seal plate bears a clearly recognizable, highly stylized depiction of a bird. The composition built from incised lines and dot-like depressions can possibly be interpreted as a dove with a plant element or branch. Bird and plant motifs are known from late antique and early Byzantine glyptic art and jewelry. Any further religious interpretation is deliberately left open. The relatively thin ring shank widens at the shoulders to the roughly 12 mm round plate. The ring and plate form a single constructive unit. The irregular surface, small indentations, and clear signs of wear give the piece a characteristic archaeological state of preservation. Typological assessment suggests a creation in the late Roman to early Byzantine period, approximately between the 4th and 7th centuries AD. An exact dating or regional attribution is not possible without a secure find context.
