Le Yack - Le Gardien de la lanterne - Hand-signed

At the very top of the lighthouse. The large lens shines with a warm gold to the left; in front of the railing, a man in a overcoat and hat watches the ocean rage against the cliffs. In the distance, the clouds tear apart and a beam of sunlight falls on the sea. He may have weathered the storm. Or he is waiting for a boat that won’t come back. Le Yack leaves the question open, and that is where the painting grabs you: in the calm of this man facing the tumult. Powerful chiaroscuro, waves worked into vivid strokes, dramatic light: a cinematic marine that inhabits a wall. A work of silence and space, conceived to soothe an entire room.
