Title: *Amida-kyō Wakun Zue* (Illustrated *Amitabha Sutra* with Japanese Annotations) Author: Yamada Yatei (山田野亭) Illustrator: Matsukawa Hanzan (松川半山) Original Publisher: Tanaka Sōeidō (田中宋栄堂) Date: First edition, 1844 Description: The original text of the sutra is presented with *Wakun*—a translation or guided reading in simplified Japanese. Matsukawa Hanzan transforms the sutra's abstract concepts into concrete imagery.
