[MIRABEAU]. — *Les Veillées du couvent* or *Le Noviciat d'amour*. An erotic-satirical poem; by a bastard son of Mirabeau the Elder. Paris, Séguier, “Carré Chair” collection, no. I, [1991]. Small 8vo, paperback, cover lined with red paper, title printed in black. Reprint of a libertine text attributed to Mirabeau, published under the deliberately provocative designation “by a Bastard of Mirabeau the Elder.” Introduction by Dorelies Kraakman. This erotic-satirical poem, set in a convent, belongs to the tradition of libertine and anticlerical literature of the late 18th century. The publisher states that it has preserved the original edition’s spelling, capitalization, and punctuation, with the exception of corrected typographical errors. The first volume in the “Carré Chair” collection from Éditions Séguier, immediately followed in the series by *Le Tartufe libertin ou Le Triomphe du vice*, which you have just shown me. Carefully printed on laid paper, with untrimmed pages. A fine copy. The interior is in fresh condition; there are minor signs of wear on the cover and a fairly visible trace of a former label on the back cover.
