Natural Black Tourmaline Wooden Base Black Schorl...

atural block of black tourmaline from Brazil, placed on an elegant carved wooden base that ensures stability and enhances its vertical development. The specimen is formed by a dense aggregate of prismatic crystals side by side and interconnected, developed with a predominantly parallel orientation. The surface preserves the characteristic structure of schorl, the black variety of tourmaline, with deep longitudinal striations running along the crystals for their entire height. These grooves, typical of the mineral’s natural growth process, catch the light creating a pattern of reflections in black, anthracite gray, and weakly metallic tones. The top presents an irregular and stepped profile, determined by the different heights of the crystals that make up the block. Some areas show a more compact weave, while others clearly distinguish the individual prismatic elements gathered in the formation. The surface also bears inclusions and natural matrix residues in cream, beige, and pinkish hues. The contrast with the deep black of tourmaline emphasizes the geological origin of the specimen and adds chromatic movement to the composition. Each side reveals different details, from long vertical veins to the cavities and irregularities typical of an uncut sample. Tourmaline belongs to a complex group of borosilicates characterized by considerable chemical variety. Schorl, rich in iron, is the most common species of the group and is distinguished by its intense black color, prismatic crystal habit, and marked parallel striations. In metaphysical tradition, black tourmaline is considered one of the most important stones for protection and grounding. It is attributed with the ability to absorb and disperse negative energies, promote emotional stability, and create a sense of security in the environment. It is often placed at the entrance of homes and workplaces or used in spaces dedicated to meditation. These properties belong to crystal healing traditions and are not scientifically proven. The wooden base, with its warm reddish-brown tone, creates a refined contrast with the mineral’s black and transforms the specimen into a strongly present decorative element, suitable for a mineral collection as well as a contemporary setting. The photographs were taken to show the specimen from different angles and constitute an integral part of the description.
