No Reserve - Monumental Antique Kerman Carpet, Southeast Persia, circa

Curated collection of antique, vintage and modern rugs No Reserve — Monumental Antique Kerman Carpet, Southeast Persia, circa 1900 Size: 20 ft 4 in x 11 ft 4 in (6.19 m x 3.45 m) Provenance: Property of New York Collector A monumental Kerman carpet whose impressive scale would have required an exceptionally large loom, careful planning, and an extended period of production. Kerman was among Persia’s most accomplished weaving centers, particularly celebrated for elegant floral drawing, sophisticated color modulation and technically precise execution. At over twenty feet in length, this carpet was conceived for a grand reception room, gallery or other substantial interior. Its elongated proportions make it especially useful for spaces that cannot easily be furnished with standard room-size carpets.
