The composition should be understood not merely as decoration, but as a textile tableau in which color and individual knots function much like brushstrokes. Pictorial rugs occupy a fascinating position between fine art and textile art. Their quality depends on the accuracy of the drawing, the subtlety of shading, and the technical control required to create convincing figures, architecture, and perspective.
