A deep black field dominates the composition, interrupted by a luminous metallic horizon whose rich texture creates the sensation of a wave or tide emerging from the shadows. The lower area is built through sweeping, circular gestures that suggest movement and energy, while the metallic surface captures and reflects the surrounding light. Throughout the day, changes in natural and artificial lighting can reveal different tones, textures and nuances within the work, giving it a constantly changing presence. The artwork is presented rolled. I recommend that it be opened and mounted on its final stretcher by the artisan who will install it, allowing the canvas to be handled and tensioned correctly.
