During this tense political climate, the Regent’s political office was directed by the renowned poet and diplomat Giorgos Seferis, later Nobel Laureate in Literature. Significance This decree formally establishes the Ministry of Health, marking a major administrative step in rebuilding Greece’s healthcare system after the devastation of war and occupation. Alongside this new ministry, the State Quinine Monopoly played a major role in the nation's recovery by securing and distributing the vital medication needed to combat widespread malaria during this critical period.
