Letter signed by Mr. BARTHOLOMÉE, written from ROCHEFORT (Charente-Maritime) on September 30, 1787, addressed to DELACOMBE Brothers, rue de la Douane in BORDEAUX (Gironde), regarding “his passage on the ship L’Émeraude, Captain Petiteau, for the price of 1,000 livres, colonial silver.” ” “As soon as I arrive in Saint-Domingue, I will immediately arrange shipments to settle my debt with you and provide for my family’s needs. 3 pages in-4° + Business letter, dated July 12 (1790), addressed to Mr. LITOT, merchant aboard the schooner LA LOUISE: “Once you have settled with LABÉBAT what I owed him upon my departure and have determined what is due to me for my slaves’ daily wages, if the proceeds leave any funds available… ” 3 pages, in-4° + Letter from BORDEAUX dated August 24, 1791, addressed to Mr. HAITRE, Commander of Quartier-Morin, Saint-Domingue, currently staying with Mr. LAMARQUE in Saint-Sauveur-de-Barèges. He informs him of “the upheaval caused by the receipt of the news of the decree concerning people of color… It was not officially sent, and the Assembly, in its instructions, stated that it would not prejudge anything regarding the colonies and the Indies…” 1 page, in-4° + INHERITANCE IN SAINT-DOMINGUE. Letter from TOULOUSE dated December 19, 1825, addressed to his brother-in-law Mr. RÉAL, former magistrate in Grenoble (Isère), regarding an inheritance of a plantation in the islands of Saint-Domingue, inquiring about the size of the property and the value of its movable assets. “Will the Negroes be able to buy themselves free?” 3 pages, in-4°
