COLLECTOR'S GUIDE TO NINETEENTH-CENTURY JUGS KATHY HUGHES 1991 W/DJ SIGNED NEAR FINE CONDITION. From the flap of the dust jacket, I quote: "During the reign of Queen Victorial, relief-moulded jugs were produced in vast quantities and became an extremely popular but distinct art form. A Collector's Guide to 19th Century Jugs, Volume I, traces the development of the design of jugs, identified the potters, the dates of potting and the subjects represented I relief. This second volumeby Kathy Hughes identifies, dates and defines another 350 patterns of relief-moulded wares." I am pleased to be able to offer for your consideration then: "A Collector's Guide to Nineteenth-Century Jugs, Volume II" by Kathy Hughes. This small book (6 ¼ x 9 ½ inches, 130 pages) was published by the Taylor Publishing Company of Dallas, Texas, dated 1991 and it appears to be a First Edition. The bulk of the book consists of 96 pages of some 233++ jugs, with brief descriptions of almost all of them. There are several appendices which follow this main text and its illustrations. Laid-in is a neat "Price List for Books I and II." The book is bound in shiny black paper covered hard boards with gilt titles on the spine; it is protected by a pictorial dust jacket, itself encased in a Brodart mylar sleeve. This copy is flat signed by the Author on the title page. Condition: This book is in near fine condition, the dust jacket having been protected by the mylar sleeve and the book itself by the two of them. So, you will not find it strange when I tell you that I can find no real flaws or condition issues with this very nice book. The only mark I found was the Author's signature; the interior of the book, pages and plates are clean and bright from cover to cover. The hinges are fully intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
