Half blue morocco over marbled boards, raised bands, gilt titles and elaborate decorative gilt compartments, marbled endpapers, top edges gilt. Volume I, 433 pages with 13 extra illustrations and 2 page AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED (ALS) by Henry W. Longfellow tipped-in at half title page. Letter dated Cambridge March 17th, 1866 to a Dear Sir regarding a question of correspondence with a Falmough clergyman and his sister. Longfellow replies that he has no recollection of the correspondence and requests to see the letters. Volume II, 481 pages w/ Index; containing 22 extra illustrations; Final Memorials of Longfellow (1887), 447 pages; 25 extra illustrations. All volumes with bookplate of Henry Otis Harris on front pastedowns; Mr. Harris was a noted collector whose library was sold in a series of sales at Anderson Galleries New York 1919-1927.
