Slant Top Chest-on-Chest

Canadian. A chest-on-chest blanket box/desk with a slanted lift top that reveals small fitted drawers and a deep storage compartment behind the four false drawers on the front. A rope twist molding delineates the two sections with two drawers below over a prominent bracket base. A very similar chest was found on Amherst Island near Kingston and illustrated in Howard Pain, plate 606. Mixed woods, with as-found original surface. 1825-1840. Unmarked.
