A nearly monumental golden surface meets a deep black background. Irregular edges, fine cracks, overlays, and visible signs of handling give the surface depth and a deliberately aged, almost archaic character. Depending on the lighting, the gold changes: at times it appears bright and radiant, at other times warm, matte and almost bronze-colored. It is precisely this variability that makes the work come alive and makes the textured surface appear differently again and again.
