Vanadinite on Barite – Brilliant Orange-Red Crystal Cluster – Morocco A highly attractive Moroccan mineral specimen featuring a dense covering of vivid Vanadinite crystals growing over a pale Barite matrix. The display surface is richly coated with well-developed Vanadinite crystals in intense orange to deep red-orange tones. Numerous crystals show sharp hexagonal forms and bright reflective faces, producing a strong sparkle under direct light. Their distribution varies from dense carpets of smaller crystals to more isolated, larger individuals, creating excellent depth across the specimen. The Vanadinite is particularly concentrated over broad bladed aggregates of Barite, whose pale cream to ivory colour provides a striking contrast with the saturated red-orange crystals. In several areas, the Barite forms prominent radiating blades partially covered by Vanadinite, giving the piece a layered and sculptural appearance. The specimen remains visually interesting from multiple angles, with further crystal development continuing across the edges and secondary surfaces. Vanadinite is a lead chlorovanadate mineral, Pb₅(VO₄)₃Cl, and commonly forms distinctive hexagonal crystals. Moroccan specimens are especially appreciated for their intense colour and frequent association with Barite. Presented on the transparent acrylic display stand shown in the photographs.
