Vintage Band Ring With Colombian Emerald & Diamonds in White Gold, Circa 1985

This modern band ring came to us from southern Germany. Its solid white gold ring band is adorned with three sparkling gemstones. Two old-cut white diamonds weighing around 0.50 carats together frame a green emerald, which forms the central focus of the ring. The intense green gemstone comes from Colombia, the classic origin of the best emeralds. It is shaped in the classic emerald cut, an octagon with stepped sides. It is very clear and has been moderately treated with oil in the usual way for emeralds to improve its visual appearance. Inclusions in its interior bear witness to its natural formation. One of the inclusions protrudes to the surface on the side of the stone. The diamonds in this ring have been reused, as their cuts are typical of stones from around 1900. Presumably, someone has had an heirloom adapted to current tastes. The band ring is both classic and modern. Its brushed surface shimmers matt and cool, which is a beautiful alternative to the usual polished yellow gold alliance rings.
