Vintage NEcklace Made of Tahitian Cultured Pearls by Schoeffel, Stuttgart

Tahitian pearls are among the most coveted and luxurious pearls in the world. They are considered the epitome of luxury not only because of their size, but also because of their natural, fascinating colors. Their cultivation requires special care: they are grown exclusively in the warm, crystal-clear lagoons of French Polynesia - on atolls and archipelagos where the sensitive black-lipped oyster (Pinctada margaritifera) finds ideal conditions. Only this species of mussel produces the unique, dark grey to deep black pearls that enjoy worldwide recognition as Tahitian pearls. The necklace on offer here consists of 41 particularly large Tahitian pearls, each with a diameter of over 10 millimetres. The pearls are strung on an 18-karat white gold ball clasp and create an atmospheric interplay of lighter and darker shades of gray. Only a few natural growth marks - small dents - testify to their authenticity and organic origin. A fine, iridescent peacock lustre, the characteristic rainbow-like shimmer, lies on some of the pearls and gives the necklace a particularly luxurious appearance. The necklace measures 48 cm in length and has been professionally restrung - for safe and carefree wearing. The striking ball clasp bears the signature of the renowned Stuttgart-based manufacturer Schoeffel, a company with an excellent reputation for high-quality cultured pearls. The necklace was made around 2010 - and found its way to us here in Berlin. An extraordinary piece of jewelry with a luxurious look.
