Vintage Persian Tabriz “Diane Sortant du Bain” Tableau Rug - 4 ft

Curated collection of antique, vintage and modern rugs Vintage Persian Tabriz “Diane Sortant du Bain” Tableau Rug Size: 4 ft 5 in x 2 ft 10 in (1.35 m x 0.86 m) Provenance: From a private home in Los Angeles A finely woven Persian tableau rug interpreting the European painting subject “Diane (Diana Godess of hunting) sortant du bain.” The figures are portrayed within a lush woodland setting rendered in saturated greens, turquoise, golden flesh tones, brown, and deep black, surrounded by a classical floral border. The juxtaposition of a European painted subject with the technical vocabulary of Persian weaving makes this an engaging example of cross-cultural decorative art. The unusually vivid color and accomplished figurative drawing give it strong wall-display appeal. Condition Request Condition Report Lot #494 is in very good condition.
