Vintage Pub Mirror / Advertising Mirror – Phineas Pinchbeck – 1970s/1980s A very decorative and characteristic screen-printed pub mirror (or bar mirror) in a wooden frame, dating from the 1970s–1980s. The mirror features a humorous and satirical Victorian-style illustration, centered around the fictional character Phineas Pinchbeck. The mirror shows a detailed caricature with a pocket watch and contains various witty 19th-century puns and glints at the society of the time: - Phineas Pinchbeck sells Dolly-Varden Alarm-Clocks for Husbands - Apprentices’ Timekeepers for Manufacturers - Election Repeaters for Politicians (political satire on vote fraudsters) Condition: - Front: The screen print and the mirrored surface are in excellent and clear condition. The print is still sharp and the colors are beautifully preserved. - Back: The rear wall shows clear, old damp spots/watermarks (vertical runs and splashes). This has fortunately not affected or damaged the image or the glass at the front. The construction is solid and complete with the original red hanging cord. A fantastic piece of nostalgic wall decor, perfect for a man cave, bar, pub, or retro interior.
