Wedgwood Sea Dragons Pattern Bone China Trial Plate

This fine bone china plate by Wedgwood is a documented factory trial piece for the Sea Dragons pattern, a design visually similar to the commercially released Marina pattern. The plate is produced in the Lincoln shape and features a wide cobalt blue rim identified in factory notations as MAS Blue. The border is decorated with a repeating silk-screened gold gilt pattern of stylized sea dragons, bordered by a thin gold band leading to a plain white center. The reverse features an original black and gold Wedgwood factory sample label that reads: Wedgwood / SAMPLE / SEA DRAGONS ON OVEN FIRED MAS BLUE, SILK SCREEN GOLD PRINT. TRIAL NO 2. PLATE 10 INCH LINCOLN SHAPE. In addition to the label, the base rim contains handwritten factory notations: TRIAL NO 2 19-5-66 J + MS INGLAZE BLUE OVEN FIRED GOLD KILN FIRE 750 X 55.
