I painted it in the harbor of Chlopy a small fishing village on the Polish Baltic Sea coast. The bright yellow fishing boat resting on the beach immediately caught my attention. It creates a vivid contrast to the blue and green hues of the sea and speaks to the close connection people have with the Baltic Sea. As I painted the changing light and the fresh sea air were reflected in the colors and atmosphere of the scene. With this painting I wanted not only to capture a characteristic coastal scene but also to convey the quiet power and authenticity of the place. The resting boat seems like a brief pause between two voyages—a moment of calm before the sea calls once again to set sail. Signed lower right.
